Aled had told us that he was making a programme for ITV to be shown on Christmas Eve, and many of his recent travels - to Israel and to Rome and Assisi were for filming for this.

We now find the following:

Aled Jones' Ultimate Christmas Carols
Back2back commissioned by ITV and 2e to make primetime Christmas Carol documentary with accompanying DVD. Directed by David Notman-Watt

It’s impossible to imagine Christmas without Christmas carols – they are undoubtedly a treasured part of the festive season, which is only made all the more cheerful by their enduring appeal.

But where do our favourite carols come from?

By the age of 12, Aled Jones was a household name in Britain for his now classic version of ‘Walking in the Air’. This Christmas eve, he invites your family to join him on a remarkable journey across Europe and the Middle East to explore the origins of some of our most cherished Christmas songs – songs he will be performing with the acclaimed Libera Choir at the beautiful Great St Barts Priory Church.

This sounds wonderful xbons. Smile

I was looking on Amazon yesterday and and putting Aled's name into a search (I was doing a few of my favourite singers) I came across it - I wondered what it was all about.

I have put the CD and DVD onto my amazon wish list for Christmas but it's going to be lovely to watch on Christmas Eve.

I'll keep checking back to see if you get any more info.

Love Molly xx Smile

Well, some of this is becoming clearer - but some is still confusing!

The Ultimate Christmas Album appears to be a reissue of an old album from Aled's treble days, with Gerald Finlay and the Royal College of Music Chamber Choir. It seems to be excellent value to me, as the CD has 24 carols:

1. Once In Royal David's City
2. Away In A Manger
3. Good King Wenceslas
4. We Three Kings Of Orient Are
5. Silent Night
6. We Wish You A Merry Christmas
7. Hark The Herald Angels Sing
8. God Rest You Merry Gentlemen
9.O Little Town Of Bethlehem
10.O Come All Ye Faithful
11.Ding Dong Merrily On High
12. Holly And The Ivy
13. Deck The Halls
14. It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
15. I Saw Three Ships
16. Angels We Have Heard On High
17.Coventry Carol
18. O Christmas Tree
19. Boar's Head Carol
20. Here We Come A Wassailing
21. The Three Kings
22. Good Christian Men Rejoice
23.Lo How A Rose
24.What Child Is This

In addition there is a DVD - of A Christmas Carol starring Richard E Grant and Patrick Stewart.

Amazing value from Amazon for £6.99 - see CLICK HERE
or HMV for £4.99 - see CLICK HERE
