A hello to chris and Nick from TTT OS

New Tour Begins "
by Stewart

One of the key trademarks of The Ten Tenors is the various styles of music we cover. Although the name may spark an initial interest in lovers of classical music, it doesn't take long for one to realise that the group's repertoire extends far beyond the boundaries of the 19th century. Through opera and Neapolitan music we established a firm footing ten years ago and since then have strived not only to reinvent the way music from those genres can be performed, but have also drawn heavily on the ever-evolving stream of popular music.

So it comes as no surprise that our show is already turning heads and setting the audience abuzz with the introduction of our two new musicians, Chris Pearson (bass) and Nick Hatch (drums); yet another couple of Queensland lads eager to experience life on the road and add their chops to The Ten Tenors sound!

After just one show it was obvious these boys had payed their dues and lived large in the land of groove, but before we start guessing too much about them, let's hear what they have to say...

So let's have it: what do you guys play?

Chris: I play a 5-string Lakland bass and 35-year-old Saumer double bass.

Nick: My groove weapons of choice on tour are a Yamaha recording custom 5-piece kit and Istanbul Cymbals.

Who would you say has been your biggest influence?

Chris: I would have to say Stevie Wonder. He's a brilliant songwriter and an inspiring person.

Nick: I've been playing piano since I was four and never really had a great love of drums. I got a set for Christmas when I was 12 and since then I've been in search of the funk. These days my biggest influence would have to be RnB/Hip-Hop stuff and Michael Jackson.

And what tunes are you having some fun with at the moment?

Chris: Because I'm a bit of a 70's kinda kid, I'm enjoying "Blame It On The Boogie" and "Stayin' Alive".

Nick: "Destiny Lies" is pretty bangin'. Also, "Water" is funky as hell.

Well, Raleigh, NC had the pleasure of seeing and hearing these guys first and as the first week of our 2006 World Tour draws to a close, we can safely say we're off to a fantastic start!

If you want more of this have a regular look on their OS. About once a week they write a new TTT Today, which is sort of a tour diary. Smile
