Great news that Russell will be giving a special performance R2!
30 Aug 2008 18:00 BBC One
Myleene Klass and Nick Knowles host the search for Britain's best choir.
It's the Grand Final, and the three remaining choirs battle it out to be crowned 'Last Choir Standing'. Judges Russell Watson, Sharon D Clarke and Suzi Digby give their verdicts on the choirs' performances, but ultimately it's the viewers who decide as the public vote determines the winner of the competition.
The choir with the least number of votes will be eliminated first, leaving the final two choirs to compete in the final show. As an added treat, judge Russell Watson gives a special live performance.

It is isnt it. I'm hoping for Russell to sing a new song and for OMA! to win.
Also more backstage gossip about Russell from Myleene's LCS blog
Confession time!
"I have a confession to make about why the judges were so full of song on Saturday! Before we went on stage I offered Russell one of these mints I have that are like pure sugar... explorers use them when they're climbing Everest! Well Russell had about four or five which is the equivalent of 10 spoonfuls of sugar, and when he got on stage he just seemed to be so full of energy and kept bursting into song when he was giving the choirs his feedback! So when he started singing, that made Sharon start singing and suddenly it was like a face-off between the judges. Then Suzi was singing too and they were all at it!

So that's why Russell finally let out a note last week. |

If you would like to help the BBC with the LCS voting, you can be 'backup' voters.
Details:
Last Choir Standing Voters
BBC One
The BBC Needs You!
BBC Studio Audiences would like to invite you to be part of our backup voters for Last Choir Standing on Saturday 30 August. The BBC is required to arrange a group of independent people to watch the show in a room separate from the studio. These people will then watch the show on Television as it goes out live and take part in a paper vote on who is their favourite choir.
The reason for this is that should we have any problems with the telephone voting system we would need to turn to this vote for our result. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
If you wish to attend, you will need to be at Television Centre by 4pm on the day of the broadcast. You will be met in reception and given a complimentary tour of BBC Television Centre before being escorted to a private room where you will watch the show.
Please note that with your permission, your name and telephone number will be passed on to the production team who will contact you before Saturday with all the necessary information.
If you would like to be a voter for the final date of Last Choir Standing and can guarantee your attendance call the BBC Ticket Line on 0370 901 1227*.
All information is correct at time of publication.

I know everyone who'll be going will be wanting to be in the main studio, but if on the off chance you can't get in this could be a great second best. |

"...However Freyja Sculpher, 23, from Datchet, and the ACM choir have been invited back to sing with legend Russell Watson in a special performance of Stevie Wonder's 'Heaven Help Us All' on the grand final of the show which will be screened on Saturday, August 30...."

Fantastic, Russell is going to be singing a new song, Heaven Help Us All (from the new album??) and being backed by the fantastic ACM gospel choir. This weekends final is definitely going to be a treat!!!
And 'legend' I'm liking that. |

Well last nights final certainly was a treat. the results came out in the correct order of my favourites. So I am so pleased that Only Men Aloud! won.
As for Russell, he had me giggling away at the start as he was dancing with Sharon and Suzi while the 3 choirs sang I'm Still Standing.
His performance of Heaven Help Us All, was amazing too. It is such a different genre of music for Russell to sing and he managed to pull it off well. I especially loved the soft husky bits. I think ACM were a very worthy choir to back up that song. (which makes me wonder if any of the choirs may pop up on Russell's new album. It's a nice thought. )
It is a shame the series has now finished. As I was getting quite used to seeing Russell on the 'box' every weekend. But according to the papers another series is looking good for next year so We'll have to keep our fingers crossed that Russell also agrees to return. |

There are a few nice behind the scenes shots of Russell from LCS in our gallery now Click Here
Also from Myleene's final blog
"...Working with the judges
"It's also been great getting to know the judges and watching them in the show - they didn't just say things for effect - they explained why they made their decisions, and their comments and feedback were always constructive rather than controversial.
"It's so delightful to have a panel who know what they're talking about, know how to articulate themselves and can make it accessible for the audience..."
I agree that Russell was a perfect choice to judge LCS
and from Nick's final blog
"...Being mean to the judges!
"It was funny when I asked them who they would have voted for before the final result was announced. It was quite a horrible thing to do, but we got to know each other well enough so that I felt I could ask them. A truly horrible question but I had an enormous amount of fun asking it, and they were great the way they answered it...."
Source of both blogs: Last Choir Standing website
They were very diplomatic with their final choice and I think all throughout, Russell and the other judges were diplomatic. As Russell says you can give criticism without dashing people's dreams. |

I thoroughly enjoyed LCS and will miss the show now it has ended. Hopefully if it returns next year, we will have Russell as a judge again - he was very fair I thought. |
