Enjoyed seeing this on TV
They changed the 'running order' and cut some bits out, but, on the whole, it was very watchful.
Shame they didn't show Hayley & Jonathan's bow and applause as they cut to the ads. Think they 'tweaked' SB though, but I still thought she was rather struggling to be honest and didn't really like her much (bit of a diva ) Nice speech from AWL and I think Josh Groban should have sang something more from a classical crossover point of view rather than 'Smile', which did seem a bit out of place there.
I will certainly be looking to book my seat for next year though as I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it all 'live' _________________

I've just watched the whole show - and Jonathan and Hayley about 6 times - and what can I say - there is only one word... WOW! Their performance was amazing, touching and made me weep with the beauty of it.
Disaster struck last night - and I was unwell - and had to go to bed and trust to taping the show. Very scary - I had video on one tv and dvd on another going but I was still so anxious that something would go wrong. And it's the first time ever I think that I've not watched a Jonathan tv performance live (and such an important one at that!) so all in all it was worrying and upsetting. But thankfully all was well and it taped beautifully.
It's been wonderful to have all the reviews and pictures and audio clips and video from the actual night - but nothing could have prepared me for how wonderful Jonathan and Hayley sounded and acted the duet. It was sheer bliss to watch from beginning to end. And whilst I know that I am biased in that Jonathan is my favourite performer - and I am predisposed to love everything that he does - I truly believe that bias had nothing to do with the fact that from what I saw he gave a truly tremendous performance at the Brits and both he and Hayley were up there as good as the acclaimed best.
They did themselves proud - and I'm so pleased for Jonathan. He showed that he truly is worthy of a place amongst the classical best.
I still feel on cloud nine it was all so beautiful - and I can only imagine how fabulous it must have been to have actually been there and heard and seen that performance live.
Surely the classical world must now acknowledge that it doesnt matter how one comes to prominence - it's the talent that speaks for itself?
I thought the stage was wonderful - very impressive - and the orchestra were gorgeous - I could have listened to them all night!
I loved Andrea Bocelli - he sounded beautiful I thought - although he wont ever reach the heights of Pavarotti for me - but nevertheless he sounded good. The David Garrett trio were excellent - I loved them - I thought DG might have taken over - in his flamboyant style - but he didnt and the other violinist was equally, if not more so, mesmerising.
My least favourite performances of the night were Sarah Brightman (sorry) I would have loved to have heard the little choir boy on his own - the best ever performance of Pie Iesu for me has to be by Charlotte Church and her little cousin.
I also wasnt keen on Josh Groban. Apologies to his fans. I appreciate that he is very talented - and technically a great singer - but I find his voice quite harsh in places - and when he sang with Lee Mead on the Joseph Show - You Raise Me up - it was Lee's voice that I thought sounded the most beautiful - with the lovelier tone and richness of sound.
I thought Myleen did great as the presenter - and she looked beautiful in her purple dress.
It was lovely to have an overview of the RAH - and to get glimpses of some of the celebs throughout the night - especially our man of the moment!
Being greedy - I would have loved to have seen Jonathan and Hayley arriving in their motor cavalcade - and would have loved to have seen them take their bows and applause - but still - the most important thing was the performance and they were at their supreme best!
All in all - a great tv show ........and for me personally I thought Jonathan and Hayley stole the show. They were young and fresh and passionate - and their performance was a sheer delight.

well done Jonathan and Hayley that was simply stunning -heartfelt and totally beautiful -wonderful.
So proud to see Jonathan on that stage.
Loved ALW speech -such a touching tribute to his Dad
For me as a viewer I so got the beautiful emotion of Jonathan and Hayley's performance -so glad the cameras caught that. _________________ Jonathan Ansell's official forum

That's one interview I've never seen before, and what a nice one it was too.
Jon never ceases to amaze me......he's never lost for words with these interviews. I'm very impressed.
After watching the CB , and re-watching Jon and Hayley's duet several times after I haven't been able to get their music out of my head.... the pictures and videos of the performances on the OS are simply stunning. . The emotion just oozed out of the screen and from what I have heard if you were there in person it was even more enthralling.
Next year I am making the effort to go and see it in person. |
