The Radio Wales show has started again - last Sunday's guest was Jane Asher (it is still possible to listen again for a week - and it was, as ever worth listening to). The Radio Wales programmes are always interesting! Very Happy

And a couple of concerts for those lucky enough to live within reaching distance of Chester! Laughing

Sunday 6th:
* Good Morning Sunday: BBC radio2 – 7.00 – 9.00: Aled says Good Morning Sunday to The Blind Boys of Alabama, winners of the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album from 2001 to 2004.
* Aled Jones: Radio Wales – 10.00 – 11.00: guest: composer George Fenton
* The Choir: BBC radio3 – 6.30 – 8.00:
Aled explores one of the oldest musical forms, the Mass, in contemporary settings – including one by renowned pianist Stephen Hough, some of which was written following a terrifying accident on the M1 in 2006, in which his car somersaulted. He escaped from his mangled car largely unscathed, as did the sketches for his mass, Missa Mirabilis, partly written in St Mary's Hospital.
For the programme, the BBC Singers have recorded a selection of cathedral settings of the familiar Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei, and also versions for the parish church in English, composed in the last 10 years. The BBC Singers are joined by members of the Bach Choir who represent the church congregation for some of these recordings.
Musical highlights include parish masses written by two of the country's most respected composers, James MacMillan and Judith Bingham, as well as the mass by Hough.
Aled is joined in the studio by David Hill, conductor of the BBC Singers, who offers an insight into the musical value of these new masses. Tim Ruffer, head of publishing at the Royal School of Church Music, discusses what parish churches are looking for in a good mass, and how composers tackle writing music for congregations to take part.

Sunday 13th:
* Good Morning Sunday: BBC radio2 – 7.00 – 9.00: Aled says Good Morning Sunday to Tobias Jones, author and journalist; and Alexis Wright, described as one of Australia's finest Aboriginal writers.
* Aled Jones: Radio Wales – 10.00 – 11.00 Aled is in conversation with best-selling author Sir Cameron Mackintosh
* The Choir: BBC radio3 – 6.30 – 8.00: Aled presents choral music from Australia and New Zealand, including music reflecting the Maori tradition and the landscape of New Zealand, performed by two of its national choirs. Aled also talks to Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe, who introduces a complete performance of his Requiem

Sunday 27th:
* Good Morning Sunday: BBC radio2 – 7.00 – 9.00: Join Aled Jones as he says Good Morning Sunday. This week Aled's special guest is singer Karine Polwart. Karine won the 2007 Radio2 Folk Award for Best Original Song with the track Daisy. Like much of Karine's work it show's her love of philosophy. Since Karine won that award she has become a mother (to Arlo) and has just released a new album of songs called This Earthly Spell.
Also joining Aled in the studio is one of our regular faith guests, Chick Yuill. Chick has spent over thirty years in full-time ministry. Most of that time was devoted to leading and pastoring local congregations, both in the UK and the USA. He is the author of a number of books including, ‘We Need Saints’, ‘And God Created Sex', ‘Others’ and his latest book is called ‘A Terrible Beauty' which looks at the fierce splendour of grace.
And as part of the current Radio 2 Life to Live Campaign Let's Talk About Sex Aled will be talking to Dr Chris Richards about his work in Lovewise, one of a number of voluntary organisations which aims to share the Christian perspective on sex and relationships with schoolchildren.
This week Aled will also be asking for your views on two subjects; firstly on the proposals to make it easier for people to have an Anglican Church Wedding, and secondly we want to know if you, like last week's guest Beth Rowley, find that many modern hymns tare too hard to sing.
