TERFEL'S RETURN
Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel conquered opera in Los Angeles when he sang the title role of Verdi's "Falstaff" in 2005. But he's always been equally effective in the more intimate song literature that he'll sing in recital for L.A. Opera. There will be songs of the sea, fields, fireside and meadow set to the poems of John Masefield, plus a dollop of Schubert and Poulenc and selections from the Celtic isles. His long-term collaborator, Malcolm Martineau, will be at the piano. 7:30 p.m. Sun. Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, 135 N. Grand Ave., L.A. $20-$100. (213) 972-8001; www.laopera.com
