Katherine Jenkins is the alternative opera star. Dubbed 'Britain's favourite singer', she is a popular phenomenon with pop star glamour and an approachable girl-next-door personality. She performs in rugby stadiums as much as opera houses and at still only 27 years old, has outsold Maria Callas.
Re-defining the concept of classical crossover, Katherine has survived personal tragedy, classical snobbery and even insurgents' missiles to become a superstar in a class of her own.
That fact is evident in the details as much as the famous smile. Katherine has achieved global sales of over 3 million. Her debut album, Premiere, released in 2004 was fastest selling of all time by a Mezzo Soprano.
She is also the only singer in musical history to simultaneously hold the Number 1, 2, 3 and 4 position in the classical album charts, which she achieved with Premiere, Second Nature, Living the Dream and Serenade in 2007.
Katherine's musical selections for Waddesdon will include show-tunes, Welsh songs and famous classical arias.
Blake
Blake are four incredibly talented young men, bringing an innovative sound to classical music. Achieving huge success in a short time, their first album, released last November, sold over 100,000 copies; they also recorded a new version of Swing Low Sweet Chariot which became the theme song for the 2007 World Rugby Cup.
TV Appearances have included Children in Need, BBC Breakfast, GMTV, This Morning and Lesley Garrett's Christmas Voices. |
