Aled told me at Friday Night is Music Night a week or so ago that he had been invited to sing on the new Cunard liner Queen Victoria for the maiden voyage. However, I could find nothing about this on the internet so did not post about it.
But, now it has been confirmed! An extract from a journal of a passenger on the Queen Victoria entitled Maiden Voyage Memoirs - scroll down to Thursday December 13th - reads: "The private boxes in the Royal Court Theatre were all booked last night to watch Aled Jones perform. I will try for one later in the voyage. Aled was very good but I kept on expecting him to burst into 'The Snowman', the song which elevated him to star status when he was a child. " (Poor Aled, can't people ever let that go?! )

Also, at the Guildford Cathedral concert last night, Aled apparently mentioned about singing in the theatre on the Queen Victoria, but no-one had told him that, even though they had a very calm sea during his part of the voyage, if the ship hits a wave whilst you are on stage, the stage moves - which it did whilst he was on it!
Congratulations Aled on a great invitation |
