It really depends on what you're more interested in, his classical or pop.
For pop I'd suggest getting them order starting with Romanza, Sogno, CDT, Andrea and then Amore to get a true sense of the great strides he's made with his voice through the course of his career.
If you want light opera, heavy neoplitan and a couple of sacred arias I recommend my favorite spaghetti CD, Viaggio Italiano. I enjoyed hearing those wonderful Neopolitans that I had only heard bits and of pieces through the years in their entirety. His Nessun Dorma is stunning as is Fredrico's Lament.
Then if you think opera might be to your liking--I love it--he's recorded Aria the Opera Album where he sings arias from the more famous operas and several operas in their entirety. One of the best lately is "Il Trovatore".
I'm looking for him to do country western any day now. |

Thanks idonna very informative. It's amazing how ClassicalX has opened my mind to all different styles and artists. Have bought several cds since joining this site. Can only be good for the artists and promoting their careers. _________________ Quawkers about Music |

| Welcome. Music in general needs more cross-over listeners. There's something to be said for all styles of music. Some will be to our liking, some not. But we should at least give them a listen. Classical gets a bum rap a lot of the time because we have preconceived notions about what it will sound like. There are so many variations of classical music it's really not all that hard to find something that appeals to you. No. 2 son asked for a classical music CD for Christmas. After I picked myself up off the floor I asked him why as he generally makes fun of my taste. Said he discovered he really likes listening to it while he's driving. Wonders never cease. |

Thank you for the advice iDonna. I've just discovered that my mum has bought Aria the Opera Album and I've also bought Romanza today so I'll be listening to them tonight.
You're right about the whole preconceived notions of classical music. I used to shy away from it a lot as I didn't understand it and refused to give it a chance. However, groups such as G4, Amici Forever and Bond have really opened my eyes to classical music and it is fast becoming my favourite type of music.
I'd have to agree with your son, as well. Classical music is perfect for listening to while driving. |

Hi - it is my believe that music - especially classical- is/was written to be enjoyed and to stir emotions. If it does that for you - you are right where you need to be.
Music can always be sampled at most music stores - don't be shy and ask the clerks to play a particular CD while you shop the store.
Andrea has been a favorite of mine for about 4 years now - I have listened to music I never thought I would like and have come to even love it. I have learned that classical music is not a contest of knowing all there is to know about it but to try and figure out who can make you feel the best singing Nessum Dorma or Aranjuez or the Pearl Fisher or maybe I like instrumental versions better...Andrea Bocelli has widened my horizons and I try to find more and more... have fun discovering where it will take you! |
