The following is from an article about Andrew Litton, who was conducting Nicola Benedetti:
It was one of those nightmare moments from musical hell.
Glamorous violin soloist Nicola Benedetti is on stage at London's Royal Festival Hall playing the world premiere of an Andrew Tavener concerto -- with said composer in attendance -- when in mid pluck she and the orchestra come to a halt.
String breaks, music stops, exit Benedetti stage right to replace same.
This could be tense were it not for 48-year-old American conductor Andrew Litton on the box to defuse frayed nerves.
"We're so glad you're back," he says to laughter when his soloist returns after 10 minutes and they launch back into it.
