Some might ask “Has the good girl suddenly gone bad?” Yulia would answer “…there are all kinds of love, if your love is under siege in the new millennium then what can we do about that? Is love tough enough to make a difference?” That’s an interesting question.

Following on the success of her six times platinum-selling albums “Into the West” and “Montage” which resulted in two number one hits and two NZ tui awards, the Nov 2007 single release “LOVE SIEGE” is the first of a new collection of Yulia’s deftly self-penned and romantically themed pop songs.

Yulia’s personal evolution has been a transition from a sparse and uncompromising urban Russian childhood to Christchurch, NZ’s most illustrious and beautiful city. Fluent in Russian, English and French, she is deeply influenced by the cultural and collectively cosmopolitan heart beats of Wellington, London, Moscow and Paris. QUIET PHILANTHROPIST

This is all Yulia whom, as with many on the path to greatness, had their share of suffering which served to develop stronger empathy and greater depths of communication. A quiet and unassuming philanthropist, during 2007 Yulia appeared before a committee in New Zealand's parliament to support Endometriosis NZ's Deborah Bush in lobbying for increased funds for a health condition that effects 25% of all women.

YULIA’s THOUGHTS ON “TOUGH LOVE”.

“Do we need to re-learn love?, Maybe it’s not only about expressing sexuality, a women should be able to express herself but maybe it’s about values such as patience, kindness and forgiveness. Or is it in not envying, not boasting, not being easily angered, keeping no record of wrongs, hoping, persevering and rejoicing in the truth? All good questions.”

“When you really love someone, you will stand by them through absolutely anything. These are the every day warriors that I cherish. The mums and dads that love their children, the elderly man who, although he is 80 years old turns up each day to sit with his wife in a rest home. This is the kind of love I am talking about. Maybe it means putting off the self, and being selfless towards others and that kind of love is TOUGH.”

“So maybe the siege of war on love is an internal one inside each person. Perhaps the struggle is with the inner conflicts around our selfishness. It’s tough to be a person who is living a life of giving.”

“As I learn these things myself, maybe, just maybe, through reaching into the hearts and minds of those who would listen, maybe I can change something for that person and somehow make it better for them. If I can do that for even one person, then it has all been worth it. Perhaps this is what living a life of inspiration is all about.”
