Now that Jonathan has announced his solo deal it is just possible that all sorts of writers will have sent in tracks so who knows what will appear on the final album Very Happy Oh and Gone with the Wind could be something from the new musical ??

As it looks like the relatively short list of classical/crossover tracks that everyone seems to do appears to be exhausted we can look forward to something a little different that could be very, very interesting Smile

Well its why he said he was going to do themes from the movies, to be different. Gone with the Wind was in the middle of the films he announced.

Well at least Another Day is memorable Marian which is more than you can say about a few other tunes I could mention - but won't Rolling Eyes Laughing Actully at the time Another Day was voted the most popular on the album from a survey off different forums.

Told you I was the odd one out here, Mo!! I can't remember the tune as I always skip it on the album! Each to their own though Laughing

I love Di's idea of Jon recording a song for a musical -recording a track for a musical version of Gone with the wind ..that would be brilliant Smile

I would sing the tune to you Marian if you could hear!!!

Jon didn't mention musicals just Movie themed. Bound to include songs from musicals at some point, has five albums in which to do it Very Happy Always wanted him to sing Sonteims ' Out of My Mind' would be so great on stage, so dramatic and emotional - made for him.

Sorry only just seen the above. Well I just went through 10 pages of Stephen Sondheims songs (sorry was spelling it wrongly) on Youtube and not a glimmer - 100s of send in the Clowns by him, but no 'Out of My Mind' He wrote the words to West Side Story also.
I have got it on tape sung by Julia McKenzie. What a shame.

Thanks for taking the trouble Mo -I had a look around the web myself for Out of my mind -but like you had no luck ..

Maybe Jon will record it and give the song more exposure Smile.

Well I have been begging him long enough Very Happy along with a few others - he probably has a list 15 pages long Razz But sure what he picks for the movie themed DVD will be wonderful, seems for ever till we get it.

I watched RW concert in 200??? Confused forgot which year, but pre G4. All the songs he sang were very much what G4 sang later. ND, O Sole Mio...even Volare. Volare is not even a classical song. Why cross overs are singing the same song year after year all the same? Rolling Eyes
Classical musicians don't do that...except some very popular ones such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Messiah, Elgar's Cello Concert...
I really want Jon sing unknown songs. He will make those songs known to the world Very Happy . I also wish Jon to keep musical and movies to minimum. Although it may be good to include some, I don't want him to flood the album with those. If he does it, it may not qualify for Classic album (waiting for the reply to Mo's question to Cfm Wink ) . Leave those to Teatro

But the music from the movies will be classical Kay, its what he said and why he wants to do them as well as be different to the same things over and over. With new words written specially, Gone with the Wind from the film if gorgous, very romantic as well and I do hope he will still do Gladiator as he first said. If you listen on youtube to a few he has mentioned they are very beautiful. Can't wait myself as sick of the same things over and over. Do think he has listened to people telling him at M and Gs to be different and probably saw on forums also.

Mo. Have you got the answer to your question? Things are changing, and so, I am a bit cautious about how it turns out.
I love the idea of new words written specially for Jon, and hope he gets more for pure classical pieces too... instrumental piece turned to vocal piece Very Happy

I think at the moment it is the 'being different' he is interested in. So many people are doing the same classical pieces which he wishes to avoid. Obviously nothing is set in stone so who knows what is decided in the end, but hope he does stick to the movie tracks he mentioned as they are very good. Suppose there are quite a few tracks left for other things if everyone thinks it can be done - think it will be a joint decision with Jon holding the final vote as he has been given that right in his contract.

Anyway he has five to play with! Razz
