David Habbin solo Project: The story behind the music: MORNING SONG
This newest song, MORNING SONG was written by the critically acclaimed songwriting team from America Robin Lerner and Tommy Lee James (She's My Kind of Rain performed by Tim McGraw) with tracks by the illustrious Stephan Oberhoff. I am so excited to unveil it for all of you, here.
When we began the search for new music for this project, I was honoured when Robin presented me with songs for consideration.
MORNING SONG had a hauntingly beautiful sound and lyric. From the first time I heard this song, there was something about it that got to me right away.
I wanted to know if there was a story behind the writing of MORNING SONG, so we asked Robin.
Robin told us that when Tommy Lee gave her the music to write the lyrics to, it was around the time that Natalie Holloway had disappeared in May of 2005 on a graduation trip to Aruba. It was all over the news. She said, "as a mother of a daughter, the words just came from my heart, one mother relating to another mother on the most unconscionable, most horrible of loss, losing your child. A loss that is never meant to happen. The unimaginable emptiness of a parent losing a child, and how do you go on."
Even though the haunting and beautiful tune and lyrics of MORNING SONG affected me on an emotional level as soon as I heard the song, when I learned that the inspiration behind the lyric had been the missing girl in Aruba and particularly Robin writing the lyrics from the mother's perspective, I related to the situation on a more personal level.
Having myself lost a sister to a rare illness, all be it when I was still an infant, I have been acutely aware of the life changing effect this kind of loss has on a family and that the law of nature perhaps dictates that the loss is most profound for the mother.
Currently there is a very raw reminder of the story behind MORNING SONG with the ordeal being experienced by the parents of Madeleine McCann, a three year old British girl that went missing in May of 2007 while on vacation with her parents in Portugal.
Sadly, too many parents and family members have to face this kind of loss with children that go missing and are never found and so many children lost to illness every year.
I invite you to go to the Music Player on my David Habbin MySpace page and listen to MORNING SONG.
One purpose of my MySpace page, was for us to use the Music Player and blog to introduce you to the beginning demos for the music part of the new solo project that I am now working on. With this new journey into the world of crossover solo music, it is important that I not only choose songs that I believe my audience will like and hopefully identify with, but songs that resonate with me on an emotional level as well.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forwarding to hearing from you.
With much love and gratitude,
Peace
