[ ClassicalX ] School teacher named Aled's top fan

A retiring school teacher has been named as 'Aled Jones' biggest fan'.

A national campaign was recently launched for people who are "nuts about Aled Jones". Lynda Bull, 58, from Pontypridd, South Wales, was found to be the Songs Of Praise presenter's greatest admirer in the hunt by the Wales Millennium Centre (WMC) in Cardiff.

Jones is starring in an eight-week run of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the WMC, which asked entrants to write in and explain why they loved him so much.

Miss Bull has taught at Hawthorn Primary School, Pontypridd, for 37 years, and was put forward for the accolade by staff and pupils.

"I'm absolutely delighted," said Miss Bull, who has won four tickets to see Jones in the production. I never thought the staff would put my name forward in a million years. It's a total shock."

Miss Bull was nominated by colleague Amanda Roderick. Ms Roderick said: "My colleague Lynda Bull is Aled's biggest fan and is retiring from teaching at our school after 37 years at the end of next month. She has been unswervingly devoted to Aled well before I started teaching with her 14 years ago."

Jones plays crackpot inventor Caractacus Potts and is joined in the cast by former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Ian "H" Watkins, also of Steps fame.

Jones said: "I'm really looking forward to meeting Lynda when she comes to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The letter written by the school was very touching and very original."
