[ ClassicalX ] Huge classical festival

Killiow 2008, a charity musical spectacular, will take place this summer from September 2-6, held in the magnificent grounds of the Killiow Country Estate, near Truro.

Hosted by Selina Scott, once the golden girl of primetime television, Killiow 2008 will support The Prince's Trust, CLIC Sargent plus Children In Need charities.

With Alfie Boe, one of the finest tenor voices to come out of this country for many years, and New Zealand-born Hayley Westenra, whose album Pure went straight to No 1 in the classical charts in 2003, performing together for the first time ever, this event is set to be one musical calendar event not to be missed.

Featuring over 60 professional musicians and 270 choristers from the Camellia Symphony Chorus and Killiow Festival Symphony Orchestra, this five-night extravaganza is arguably the most significant classical musical event ever to be held in the South West of England and covers a huge range of musical tastes from Handel's Zadok the Priest, the Hallelujah Chorus and other popular classics to music from the shows such as 633 Squadron and Mack & Mabel.
Alfie Boe will be performing songs from his latest hit album Le Passione while Hayley Westenra will be performing favourites from her first four albums especially selected for Killiow 2008

To avoid any potential complications with the weather, Killiow 2008 will be held under a huge 1.5 acre purpose-built marquee known as the “Pink Galaxy” ensuring that music lovers can enjoy the concerts with the benefit of the very best acoustics.

Dr Charles Moon, organiser of the event, said: “For music fans the length and breadth of the country, this one-off event is simply un-missable.
