“It’s so humbling to be a father, totally amazing. I’m so proud of both Sarah and baby Grace,” said Alfie shortly after the birth.

Last night, Alfie who was a guest at The Classical Brit Awards and  the only Artist nominated in two categories, had to leave halfway through the awards ceremony, after receiving a text from Sarah saying that she was in the early stages of labour

Currently starring in the English National Opera’s production of The Merry Widow at The London Coliseum, Alfie has been on tender hooks for weeks hoping he wouldn’t miss the birth, or a performance. Only a week ago his wife came to watch the production and during the opera started having strong twinges. Alfie exited stage left as soon as the curtain came down and whisked his wife to hospital still in full costume. No such drama accompanied the actual birth but apparently little Grace has lungs as big as her fathers.
