This time last year, Paul Potts was selling mobile phones.
But 12 months on, life couldn’t be more different for the 37-year-old.
The Britain’s Got Talent sensation is touring the world sharing his voice with the likes of Australia, Denmark and Mexico, and he is adding more dates to his growing tour schedule for this year.
His latest port is Japan where he is performing two concerts.
The singer met up with South Korean pop opera group Illumina yesterday ahead of his concerts which will begin tonight in Tokyo.
Potts has made a duet recording with the vocalist trio Cho Su-jin, Sa Moon-young and Shin Hyo-sun for their first album. Potts confirmed that he had formally resigned from his job at the Carphone Warehouse in Bridgend yesterday after a lengthy absence.
He told Japanese newspaper the Daily Yomiuri: “I never took anything for granted. You know, there’s no such thing as a guaranteed future in this industry... and from working 20 years in retail I know that if people stop buying something then it stops happening. ”
