Opening night of Carina Rodney's new play Pub Quiz at the Queen's Hall was the place to be in Hexham last Thursday.
People travelled for miles to see this world premiere, including one couple who came all the way from the Pyrenees – Il Divo tenor Urs Buhler, and his girlfriend Tania Rodney.
Tania is Carina’s sister and make-up artist for the opera quartet.
Il Divo have achieved 26 No.1 chart positions internationally, sold over 13 million albums, and won some 104 gold and platinum awards around the world.
With their first album released in October 2004, they smashed Led Zeppelin's 25-year record of being the only band to achieve a number one album without a commercial single release. It was also the highest charting debut album for a UK signed act ever in America.
Pub Quiz is a new black comedy set in The Magpie, a pub in the North of England, and examines ideas of difference and belonging in a Northern town.
The show played two nights in Hexham and will now move on to South Shields, Berwick, Alnwick and Northern Stage in Newcastle.
