Christchurch-born singing sensation Hayley Westenra is a force to be reckoned with in the music world.
And now Hayley's album Treasure, released in May 2007, has been nominated for Best Album at this year's Classical Brit Awards taking place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 8.
This particular award is voted for by the public online, but in previous years it was only open to people in the UK. This year people around the world can cast their votes, so get in behind our local girl done good and vote for Hayley's album Treasure to take out the title!
The award has been regularly won by Welsh singers as Wales seems to get right behind their own when it comes to things like this. Westenra apparently only just missed out two years ago, which is not bad for a Kiwi.
Over the course of three albums and several years Hayley Westenra (19) has done enough to make most people feel like underachievers! From singing with Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras and Bryn Terfel to performing for Tony Blair, George Bush and the Queen, Hayley's beautiful voice has taken her around the world to widespread acclaim.
If the girl with the perfect pitch does win she'd be the first New Zealander to be awarded a Classical Brit, so give her your vote and give the Brits a taste of Kiwi!
People can vote at www.classicalbrits.co.uk and it closes on the 11th of April.
