Blake

College's first London-based musical event.

Both in the audience, on stage and at a reception after, current pupils, parents and friends mixed with former pupils from across the generations to enjoy a wide variety of musical styles and top-quality performances.

Included in the line-up was internationally renowned tenor soloist Mark Le Brocq who was just one of the college's many former choral scholars to perform.

With the college orchestra, swing band, vocal and guitar soloists, a close-harmony group, chamber groups of singers and players and a couple of numbers from Godspell, (the college's December musical), there was a huge range of traditional and modern music in the stunning Britten Theatre, culminating with some 80 musicians in the choir and orchestra singing Handel's great choral work Zadok the Priest.

The first London-based college musical event of this type also
featured Blake, the newly-famous boy band which includes Jules Knight who was at the college as Julian Kaye in the late 90s.

Blake have been nominated for Album of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards and hope to have increased their tally by some 300 votes judging by the rapturous applause which greeted their songs including Moon River, the first number they ever sang together.
