A leading choir from the Shropshire border has been nominated for a Classical Brit Award for the second year running.

Fron Male Voice Choir’s The Voices of the Valley: Encore is up against nine other albums from classical stars such as Alfie Boe and Hayley Westenra for the album of the year.

It is an accolade the choir narrowly missed out on to Beatles star Paul McCartney’s album Ecce Cor Meum last year.

Choir chairman Dave Jones said he was absolutely delighted for the choir and conductress, Ann Atkins.

He said: “It’s a great surprise, and we’re very honoured to be nominated again this year with our second album.

“This journey for us just gets better and better - recording albums, having such positive feedback from fans, going on tour across the UK and now flying the flag for Wales and for male voice choirs at the Classical Brit Awards. We’re all very proud.”
