The Australian group the Ten Tenors has acquired many fans in Europe and North America by presenting familiar arias chockablock with pop music from ABBA, Queen and the Bee Gees. The tenors will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena in Aurora.
The group formed in Brisbane, Australia, in 1995 while the original members were college music students working toward careers as opera tenors. Perhaps they were never all that serious about the classics -- their slogan is, "Opera without the boring bits." In any case, their performances mix up musical styles and deliver exciting showmanship.
The Ten Tenors' latest album, "Here's to the Heroes," focuses on the work of British composer John Barry and lyricist Don Black.
Tickets for the Ten Tenors are $39.50-$49.50. Call (630) 896-6666.
