Kiwi tenor Geoff Sewell is honoured to be returning 'home' next week to take part in a spectacular celebration of New Zealand heritage in Christchurch.
The former Amici Forever singer will be joined by Christchurch born Bic Runga, Wellington's flamboyant classical rock violinist Elena and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra for the free open air Classical Sparks concert, to be held on the
5th February at 8pm, heralding in Waitangi Day.
Taking place in the beautiful Hagley Park, Christchurch, this must-see family event for over 100,000 people will be launched with an enthralling performance by local Kapa Haka group Te Ahikaaroa, leading into the talented array of guest artists and building up to a stunning fireworks finale accompanying Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries".
London based Geoff, whose highly anticipated solo album is due for release soon, is certainly looking forward to the big night, "It's a privilege to perform at Christchurch's event of the year. What a joy to sing with an orchestra under the stars to a 'home' crowd. I can't wait'".
Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed for good weather of course, but with a scintillating line up of performers, a proud heritage to celebrate and fireworks too, it's doubtful that anything could stop this night going with a bang!
