When trying to relax, many people try to find music that relieves their anxiety.
A calming group is Il Divo. The group of singers has captured the world's attention since their first release in October of 2004, when their album shattered Led Zeppelin's 25-year record of being the only band to achieve a number one album without a commercial release.
Il Divo's second album, Ancora, went straight to number one in the USA and the UK, and they finished their year on a high performing for the Queen of England at The Royal Variety Show.
The music performed by Il Divo is a soothing mix of English and Italian ballads. Some of their well-known songs include Nella Fantasia and the Josh Groban song You Raise Me Up (Por Ti Sere). The four men that make up Il Divo create a beautiful harmony together that is rich and pure with great resonance that makes the listeners' senses melt in the moment of their sound.
Each man brings great experience and distinct passion to the songs they perform. Tenor David Miller is a U.S. native. He has a Master's degree in Opera Theater and performed leading roles internationally in opera for 10 years and on Broadway in Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme.
Sebastien Izambard was originally a pop singer from France. He is the only self-taught singer in the group and is an accomplished songwriter who plays guitar and piano.
Urs Bühler, a tenor, is from Switzerland. He began singing with a hard rock band prior to Il Divo and has sung with the Netherlands Opera at the Salzburg Festival.
Baritone Carlos Marin calls Spain home. He was a star of the opera scene in Madrid. He is renowned for his work in many operas including La Traviata and La Boheme.
Il Divo has released three albums during their three years together. The first Il Divo album was self-titled and skyrocketed in sales. Second was Ancora with record breaking sales, as well. Their latest release, Siempre, includes nine songs and a bonus track and was released on Nov. 27, 2006.
Il Divo lovers are expecting a new CD on the sales racks soon, so keep an eye out for it so you can enjoy the relaxing sounds of Il Divo.
