Brothers Ryan and Dan Kowarsky are celebrating the success of their debut album RyanDan, which has charted at No 7, selling more copies in the past week than Phil Collins, PJ Harvey and KT Tunstall.

The 27-year-old Canadians heard the news backstage in Amsterdam.

"This is incredible, it's a dream come true. We were obviously hoping it would do well but this is more than we could have hoped for. To take on and beat such big hitters as 50 Cent is pretty incredible," said Ryan.

"The last year has been an extraordinary time for us," added Dan.

"We've been living in Britain and have been made to feel so welcome but behind the scenes it has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster.

"Our mum, who is battling with Parkinson's and was the inspiration for this record, burst into tears when we told her the chart position. The album is actually dedicated to our niece Tal who tragically passed away last month from a brain tumour, which makes this all the more poignant for us and our family."
