Inspired by singers of yesteryear, Patrizio Buanne harks back to a time when a man would not dream of singing onstage in anything less than a suit, shoes polished, clean-shaven, hair neatly brushed, with a dab of cologne behind the ears.
Nothing strange about that, you might say, except that Patrizio is only 29 years old and hopelessly devoted to his art – romantic crooning.
Dean Martin, Paul Anka, Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, along with traditional Italian singers are the men he idolises. Says Buanne, “Those artists perform great melodies – it’s so fantastic to go onstage performing beautiful melodies with an orchestra behind you”.
Patrizio’s life is a remarkable story in itself; he has won countless talent shows and played Elvis onstage. Performing in front of an audience began at the age of five and by twenty, he had performed for audiences larger than 85,000 including for the Pope.
Last year Patrizio Buanne had two sell-out highly successful concerts at Carnival City, two guest appearances with the Richard Cock orchestra at the Johannesburg Country Club as part of the annual “Starlight Classics” event, and no less than five appearances on the “Unite of the Stars” shows.
Now, due to tremendous public demand, he is coming back to South Africa again. This time he will be appearing in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday 26 September (2007) at the UPE Sports Centre, Cape Town on Friday 28 September at His People's Church, and Gauteng on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September at Carnival City.
